For my efforts I was set on by the Bishop and ostracized from any church duties because I spoke out. In private some priests were sympathetic but publicly stood up for the bishop. I have to question how having to follow the Bishop's direction when you know it's wrong correlates with your oath to God.

So I walked and am happier for it. My former congregation is by choice unaware of the direction of the National Church and honestly show little interest. What astounded me was my friends on vestry felt it unnecessary to challenge their bishop in the face of declining attendance and pledging.

There are some Priests like Gene who will make their concerns known, although, I wonder what their survival rate would be like in New Westminster, Brandon and Niagara. I made my choice and I grieve for those I left behind but for once in my life the grass is actually greener over here.Anonnoreply@blogger.com
