Breakfast with Jude and the LORD on the Deck

Beautiful morning. Good, rich coffee. Jude's flowers all around. Reading 1 Kings 4 as per my St James Devotional Guide. There's a list of Solomon's twelve officers over all Israel who provided him and his household with food. They each had a territory. One had "the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, sixty great cities with walls and bronze bars" (v13). Bronze bars? What was it about those bars that got them mentioned in this list? I love these little details that pop up here and there in these lists.

And then the writer describes Solomon and his people like this: "They ate and drank and were happy" (v20). It doesn't get much better than that.

Then God gave Solomon "breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore (v29). Something worth praying for.

Finally, in Acts: “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household” (v16.32) As simple as that.
